15 Inch Stroke Shaping Machine. With the new reversing movement, a perfect accuracy of stroke is obtained with the certainty of a crank machine, and the advantage of changing length of stroke instantly with the machine in motion, and maintaining a uniform cutting speed. The new reversing movement is very simple, has no parts liable to get out of order, and is guaranteed to last as long as any part of the machine. The adjustable table is so arranged as to plane at any taper desired, by means of a screw at bottom of hinged table, as shown in cut. A bar of 2-1/4-inch iron can be passed under the cutter bar for cutting key-seats and other work of like character. Cutter bar is driven by two rack gears of large diameter, on a steel shaft.running in bearings at each end. The table can be removed so as to fasten work on saddle or front of machine as desired. 24 Inch Stroke Shaping Machine. This machine is suitable for all kinds of machine and die work, both light and heavy. As may be seen from the cut, many important improvements have been made; viz., There is a space under cutter bar through which to pass a shaft or other work for cutting key seats, etc. A box form of table made in one solid casting. The top, sides, and tool shelf under table being one piece, makes it solid under the most severe tests. The cutter bar is very heavy, the rib on top being 2-1/2 inches thick and full height. The driving shaft has extra outside support, taking all unclue strain from the bearings. Gears are extra large, giving great increase of power over old-style machine. Cross-head is very deep, and has been made much heavier. All parts of the machine have been increased in weight. Vise can be fastened on side as well as on top of table. An adjustable table for planing taper work can be put on at $25.00 extra. See cut. Vise has steel-faced jaws, is graduated, and will take in 5 inches between jaws. 25 Inch Stroke Shaping Machine. It is an extra heavy machine, and is designed for the heaviest class of work, while at the same time very small and accurate work may be done on it. It has automatic feed in all directions, including power down feed in the head, very simple in operation, and within easy reach of the operator. The table is made in the form of a four-sided box, which makes it very strong and solid under a heavy cut. Table will move to the left far enough to take in 8-1/2 inches to centre of machine, and tool can be set at an angle to plane 10 or 11 inches wide. A bar of 4-inch iron may be passed through under the cutter bar for key seating or other work. The cutter bar is driven by two rack gears of large diameter, on a heavy steel shaft supported on bearings at each end. The machine has patent improved friction driving movement, and was guaranteed that the cutter bar would to work up to a line and reverse without jar or noise.
